Doing it Myself
Not to be confused with Do It Yourself—DIY's just personally not the way I roll.
To know me is to know I love interior design.
It’s my favorite topic of conversation; I’m happiest in a well-designed hotel lobby filled with unique furniture and a magical energy; I use my free time to scroll on Pinterest and post photos of spaces, cakes, and items I love to Mitzi Bitzi Home, a second Instagram account that I’ve primarily used as a form of play for the past few years. It’s an explosion of colors, sparkles, floral prints, fairy gardens, and statement pieces, and it’s a feast for the eyes (and my favorite way to pass the time).
My grandpa thinks it’s “hilarious” that I’m “obsessed” with everything I share; but when it comes to my house, my clothes, and everything I do, I would rather be obsessed with each and every thing, and take my time collecting. I’m a maximalist to my CORE; probably the only thing Marie Kondo and I agree on is that everything you own should make you happy. It just happens to be that A LOT of things make me very happy!

I’m moving, and I thought it’d be fun to work with an interior designer to help me hone in on the things I love and curate my space to match. I was introduced to a friend of a friend who has an interior design firm; after I paid her the design fee, the designs she promised were late. What at first was some of the most intense frustration I’ve felt in a long time turned out to be a major “aha!!!” moment for me. In talking with some of my closest friends about the situation, they each very simply laid out the same thing: If the thing I love most is interior design, why was that EVER something I thought I’d want to outsource?

So, I’m designing my apartment all on my own. I want my house to feel as Mitzi (+ my bf who’s now my roommate, of course) as possible—and the person who knows how to do that best is me.
I thought it’d be fun to take you along as I figure out how the heck I’m going to turn the inspiration I love staring at all day into a house I can’t wait to come home to!!!
